You can try invalidating the session as well, but it isn't necessary.

Are you using just the existence of a session to determine whether a user is logged in?

Logging out consists of removing that session variable. So if i get this right, i need to create a session manually? If so would it be something like: How does this address the issue of the Parameter() retrieving values from a previous logon. Because that is how i get my username and password. That's not something even close to what Paul suggested.I've attached an example that shows a command button that logs out by navigating to a JSP that then does the session.invalidate() and then redirects to another page.
